We all know the New Machinery and Equipment supply chain is half screwed as far as lead times are concerned, with some manufacturers talking 2025 now. I was also talking to a Case IH salesman who told me that all-new Case IH items would rise by 10 percent across the board from April 1 2022. I spoke to a couple of clients who buy Case gear, about this, and they were non too impressed.

The new and used Machinery and Equipment market is off tap, and it's a total supply and demand scenario, not enough supply and plenty of demand.

To Farm these days, Farmers need good reliable Equipment that is going to get the job done, so many are having to pay that bit extra to get what they want. We will write about this in the coming weeks, but the days of the just-in-time supply chains are over. We all need to plan strategically to get the things we need in order to do business. A whole new strategy is required.

The trends for Machinery and Equipment in the last 7 days were Groupers, Air Seeder Carts and Bars, Combines and Drills, Scarifiers and Cultivators, Offset Discs, Ploughs, Headers, Tyres, GPS Gear, and Tractors. Tillage and Seeding gear dominated the spreadsheets, which is a sign that Farmers might be slightly adjusting their tillage practices on the back of rising prices for Chemicals.

The Grain job is all over the place, and I see one day this week BAR1 went of $31 ex Melbourne. We sold plenty of Bulk Grain and Seed during the week, and I will run into more detail re prices next week.

This is what the sales guys said happened this week:

Shane said - Another steady week with a mixed bag of Machinery and Grain being the main topic of conversation. With pricing red hot, we are seeing some reluctance in purchasing with some keeping or making do with what they have. The issue is when will this all stop or will this be the new norm, but at the moment, the supply and demand issues are well and truly with us.

Paul said - Things are shaping up fairly well again. I have noticed that most are gearing up for Cropping. Machinery enquiry has reflected that. Seed has also started to shift as people's plans are put into motion.

Interesting to hear a few different methods being employed to negate the high costs of Fertiliser and other Inputs.

Hay has continued to remain the status quo with not a lot of movement to report. I suspect that could change shortly with Hay, that has been earmarked for Winter Feed, starting to be released out into the market. This could spark some interest while Grain pricing remains ambiguous.

Mike said - Preparation is well underway for this year's Sowing season, where everyone is keeping an eye on the weather. Quality low houred Tractors are still selling. We are having a bit of a run on secondhand Tractor Tyres as new stuff is hard to source.

Hay has picked up a little in inquiry and odd loads are being sold.

GPS gear for Tractors is always popular and selling well, same with Livestock Feeding Equipment.

Currently in Quilpie and Travelling on to Charlieville this coming weekend if anyone would like to catch up.
