Yarding: 16,290

Agents yarded 7,000 old lambs and 4,800 new season lambs, quality through the old lambs ranged from plain to very good, with patchy clean up lots throughout the yarding. The new season lambs ranged from good to excellent. Most to the usual buying group were present but not all were active in a market that opened softer to a week ago, only gaining any momentum over the neat new season lambs with good fat cover.

The limited offering of new season lambs sold to restockers from $10 to $98, in places to $8 cheaper. Lambs to the trade under 18kg made from $32 to $75 slipping $5, lambs from 18 to 22kg sold from $85 to $110, $3 to $5/head cheaper. Lambs 22 to 26kg gained the most interested selling from $99 to $129/head to be $6 to $10/head dearer to averaging 460c to 510c/kg cwt.

Again there was limited interest in the old lambs back to the paddock, selling from $28 to $55/head. Old season lambs 18 to 26kg sold to the trade from $66 to $118, back $10/head. Heavy export lambs over 26kg made from $105 to $135, to be $10 to $15/head Cheaper to average 410c to 450c/kg cwt.

Sheep numbers also increased to 4,500, quality was mixed in a market that was erratic at times but ended cheaper. Light mutton made from $4 to $25/head. Merino wethers made from $22 to $34/head. Merino ewes $20 to $40, and heavy crossbred mutton from $25 to $45, with a restocker paying $50/head for pen of heavy Crossbred ewes, all weights and grades were $5 to $10/head cheaper.
