The skill is in paying the bill - In an indirect way, we have been writing all week about how the service offering that some businesses provide might be winning the race over brand loyalty, especially in Ag. 

I have been thinking about how you can get great service from a business. One way would be to try and pay their bill on the spot. It could be a tactic to keep the service providers you regularly use on call, so to speak. Try it. I bet it works more often than not. Some businesses will get a shock.

I understand that in an ideal world, we would do this every time, but it's not an ideal world. Not everyone is in a position to pay every invoice on the spot. But you could use it in a smart way to pick and choose. I mean, it wouldn't work for Telstra, but it would for the local Plumber. That would be a tactic. We wrote about contacting your accountant to get your tax done earlier rather than later. The tactic might be to ask if you can pre-pay for your tax so you can jump the queue. Another tactic. 

Mike Pickard, who works in our sales team, was staying at a Farm recently, and the powerboard was playing up. So the Farmer rang a local sparky, who was out first thing the next day. Mike asked the sparky why he came out straight away. He said because the old mate (the Farmer) always pays his bill immediately.
