The Hardwick leave - For some of you in the North, you may not have heard of Damien Hardwick, a former AFL player who went on to coach Richmond to 3 premierships. He stepped down a few months ago, citing burnout and wanting for the players to hear a different voice. He coached for over 300 games.
The Hardwick leave is so different to the way nearly all coaches leave a club, they usually get sacked, and the relationship turns toxic. Not so Hardwick, whose lovey-dovey leave meant that everyone and the club departed on good terms, and he is welcome back anytime. Like Football Clubs, when someone leaves a business, it's not always on great terms.
Well, one of ours left today, Jackie Elliott, who has been working for Farm Tender for 3 plus years, is leaving for greener pastures (I can say that). But seriously, good luck in your new role Jackie, thank you, and all the best with your Rural Women's Day side venture that is going nuts.
So Jackie leaves on good terms, and that's the aim of anyone that leaves the organisation. But it hasn't always been the case. I am not sure what they call the opposite of the Hardwick leave, but we have had a couple in our day. I put my hand up and say, it was my mistake, but hey, the mistake was made, and we move on. But in the future, the Hardwick leave is preferred.
