Some things in Ag are difficult - We hear of another Grain Trader coming into some difficulty, and we won't comment on it specifically, but the record of Grain Traders and similar situations over the years point to one thing. Grain Trading is difficult.
To its credit, the industry has evolved over the years with shorter payment terms and insurance, but it still doesn't hide the fact that when you trade a commodity under market conditions, things can go wrong (and right too).
We talked about trust and earning trust in Ag in a recent post here and how it's an honourable thing to be trusted in this space. And people do trust "most (but we have had a couple of dodgy ones)" Grain Traders, but it does leave a bad taste in your mouth if you have been affected directly.
Farmers do have a soft spot for the "best price, no matter what", and I get that can be a bit of a downfall if that's always the thinking. To get one fall over (and I am not up with the full details of it) in this day and age where the Grains industry has worked so hard to make sure it doesn't happen again is disappointing for the industry.
