Lamb numbers remained similar with 23,437 penned. Light lambs ranged from plain to very good with plainer secondary types throughout the yarding. Trade and extra heavy export lambs off supplementary feed presented in excellent condition. Most of the usual buying group attended but not all were operating fully, the market opened softer to a week ago with the secondary types most affected. Store lambs sold $4 to $10 cheaper. Light and medium trade sold to $10 softer, while the secondary types sold $12 to $17/head cheaper. Heavy trade sold $8 to $14 softer and heavy export lambs sold to a top of $260 to be $13/head cheaper.

Lambs back to the paddock sold from $50 to $139 and lambs to feed on made from $127 to $166/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $87 to $149/head. Young lambs in wool 18 to 26kg sold from $130 to $183/head, with an average of 680c to 720c/kg cwt. Shorn lambs sold from $130 to $180 for 18 to 24kg, lambs 24 to 26kg sold $171 to $194/head to have an average range of 700c to 735c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $195 to $230 and over 30kg sold from $230 to $260/head to average 740/kg cwt. Hoggets sold from $68 to $182 for the crossbreds and $98 to $125/head for the Merino’s.

Mutton numbers jumped to 16,501 penned. All the usual buyers were present and operated in a softer market across the yarding. Light Merino wethers sold from $67 to $100 and heavy weights from $95 to $124, slipping $10/head. Light Merino Ewes made from $48 to $119 and the heavier weights sold from $74 to $103, selling to $10 to $15/head cheaper, Merino’s averaged from 320c to 350c/kg cwt. Heavy Crossbred mutton made from $73 to $116, with 2 isolated sales of $135 to $140 ending $10/head cheaper to a week ago and averaged 300c to 330c/kg cwt.
