Yarding: 26,988
Lamb numbers dropped to 22,535 after last week cheaper market, quality also fall away with several unfinished lambs offered throughout the yarding. Heavy lambs presented in mostly excellent condition. Not all the usual buying group attended, with a few processors absent and not all were operating fully in a softer market to a week ago. Light store type lambs were back $5/head. Light and Medium trade sold $3 to $6 softer and heavy trade sold to $8 cheaper. Heavy export were in limited numbers and sold to a top of $238/head to be $6 softer. Lambs in wool were the most affected as buyers were uninterested, selling to $15 cheaper in places.
Lambs back to the paddock sold from $10 to $102 and lambs to feed on made from $106 to $138/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $74 to $122/head. Young lambs in wool 18 to 24kg sold from $116 to $150/head, with an average of 560c to 620c/kg cwt. Shorn 18 to 24kg lambs sold from $118 to $160, lambs 24 to 26kg sold $152 to $170/head to have an average range of 585c to 640c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $160 to $194 and over 30kg sold from $198 to $238/head to average around 630/kg cwt. Hoggets sold from $52 to $154 for the crossbreds and $90 to $100/head for the Merino’s.
Mutton numbers halved to 4,453 penned. The regular buyers were on the rail and operating as the market opened similar to a week ago then gaining momentum as more buyers jumped into action. Light Merino wethers sold from $68 to $80 and heavy weights made from $80 to $106, gaining $10 to $15/head. Merino Ewes made from $48 to $112 selling to $20/head dearer. Heavy Crossbred mutton made from $61 to $95, sold to $20/head dearer and more in places.
