With numbers declining across all selling centres, buyers found themselves compelled to increase their bidding, where a substantial 38,000 lambs and 12,000 sheep were offered for sale. All buyers made it to the sale and all were operating. The standout of the auction was the mutton category, witnessing a surge in prices as several thousand were sold early and quickly snapped up, resulting in price increases ranging from $20 to $30 on previous sales.
In the lamb segment, trade lambs weighing between 20kg to 24kg experienced an uptick, with prices strengthening by $4 to $5, fetching anywhere from $118 to $162 and averaging at 625 cents/kg cwt. For lambs weighing between 24 to 26 kilograms, prices ranged from $165 to $174. Store lambs fetched prices between $50 to $125, and those suitable for feeding purposes reached up to $135. Heavy mutton sales were robust, with prices spanning from $90 to $131.
In the heavy export lamb category, prices soared by $7 to $11, with sales ranging from $172 to $240, and averaging around 658 cents/kg cwt.
