Lamb numbers decreased to 21,400, the quality remained excellent in the heavy trade & export categories and then become very mixed with a large portion of the yarding secondary types. Not all the usual buyers were present and not all operating in a mostly cheaper market. Store buyers weren’t as active on the rail this week, Light lambs were to $15 softer, medium trade sold $10 to $15 cheaper and heavy trade were $8 to $12 softer. Heavy export 26 to 30kg were the least affected selling mostly firm to slightly dearer and extra heavy were to $8/head cheaper. Across the yarding the better-quality lambs averaged from 560c to 630c/kg cwt.

Lambs back to the paddock under 18kg selling from $40 to $106, and lambs over 18kg made from $102 to $140/head. Lambs to the trade to suit MK orders under 18kg sold from $47 to $104, Lambs 18-22kg, sold from $96 to $142, Lambs 22-24kg, sold from $124 to $148, Lambs 24-26kg made from $142 to $167/head. Export 26 to 30kg sold from $163 to $199 and 30kg and over made $194 to $221/head.

Sheep numbers jumped to 5,700, quality ranged from plain to very good with limited heavy mutton offered. Not all buyers were active. Merino wethers sold from $43 to $116, with a few pens over 30kg selling $120 to $129/head. Merino ewes sold from $23 to $91 and heavy crossbred mutton sold from $80 to $140, most weigh grades were back $10 to $20/head and averaged between 330c and 380c/kg cwt
