Lamb numbers increased with 24,800 yarded, quality ranged from plain to excellent. The market opened strong over the store light weights lambs and trade weight categories, this intensity continued for the heavy export lambs. As the sale progressed bidding become erratic and softened midway to the end of the sale. Store buyers were active early in the market paying to $5 to 10/head dearer. Light trade sold firm to $5/head better. Medium trade sold to $5 cheaper and Heavy trade sold to $10/head softer. Heavy export were to $7 cheaper for the 26 to 30kg lambs and lambs over 30kg were in demand with limited numbers offered and sold to $5 stronger.

Lambs back to the paddock sold from $77 to $144 and lambs to feed on made from $135 to $168/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $93 to $142/head. Young lambs in wool 18 to 24kg sold from $141 to $182 and lambs 24 to 30kg sold from $180 to $204/head, with an average of 720c to 770c/kg cwt. Shorn lambs sold from $135 to $192 for 18 to 24kg, lambs 24 to 26kg sold $185 to $220/head to have an average range of 740c to 780c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $202 to $239 and over 30kg sold from $238 to $270/head to average 760c to 790c/kg cwt. Hoggets gained $10/head and sold from $91 to $192 for the crossbreds and $80 to $150/head for the merino’s.

Mutton numbers remained similar with 12,750 penned. All the usual buyers were present but not all operated in a stronger market across all weights and grades. Light Merino wethers sold from $75 to $113 and heavy weights from $110 to $131, gaining $10 to $20/head. Light Merino Ewes made from $38 to $111 and the heavier weights sold from $100 to $120, selling to $12 to $18/head dearer. Merino’s averaged from 360c to 400c/kg cwt. Heavy Crossbred mutton made from $76 to $125 gained $10 to $20/head and averaged 320c to 350c/kg cwt.
