Numbers increased significantly. The market opened erratically and continued to operate this way over all classes. Buyers were selective across trade and heavy export categories discounting longer wool lambs and any off types, this impacted prices greatly throughout the sale . There was a good line up of heavy export lambs and all trended cheaper. Trade lambs were very mixed while lighter weights were often plainly bred.
Trade competition was erratic, with busts of bidding rare. Trade lambs 21kg to 24kg slipped $12 to $13 making from $115 to $155 to average $139/head. Lambs 25kg to 26kg sold $9 cheaper. The bulk selling from $157 to $177 averaging 611c/kg cwt. Store lambs were plentiful selling at $21 to $104/head.
In the heavy export market competition was solid and most buyers competed. The bulk of the heavy export lambs sold $4 to $6/head cheaper. Lambs 26kg to 30kg sold at $155 to $205/head. Over the 30kg made from $198 to $231/head.
It was a modest field of buyers and not all operated. Quality was very mixed and at the heaviest end mutton was firm to a few dollars cheaper averaging 364c/kg cwt. Trade sheep sold from $74 to $104/head to average 380c/kg cwt.
