Yarding: 51,148
Lamb supply jumped by 15,000 with 45,871 yarded. Quality again improved over most of the yarding ranging from plain to very good, however there was a portion of the yarding with lambs showing dryness in the skins and lacking finish mostly due to the conditions drying off so quick in some areas. All the usual buying group attended with extra competition from store buyers. The market opened strong but was erratic throughout the sale with cheaper sales and then some sales to $15/head dearer to a week ago, the fresh lambs with good weight and cover gaining the most interest. Light lambs back to the pack selling to $8 stronger in places, light trade lambs sold to $6 better, medium trade to $7 stronger and heavy trade to $10/head dearer. Heavy export lambs sold $7 to $13/head dearer with very limited numbers over 30kg cwt.
Lambs back to the paddock made $14 to $90 for the lighter weights and $90 to $143 for lambs over 18kg cwt. Light lambs to the trade to suit MK orders, sold from $50 to $93/head. Lambs to the trade 18 to 22kg sold from $88 to $121, 22 to 26kg made from $108 to $148/head, with a wide range of 460c to 520c/kg cwt. Export lambs over 26kg sold from $146 to $177/head, averaging between 530c to 540c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers increased to 11,277 penned, quality ranged from plain to very good. More buyers were operating in a stronger market overall weights and grades. Merino wethers selling between $26 to $65 gaining $15/head, with more numbers and weight yarded. Merino ewes made from $37 to $46, to be $12/head dearer. Heavy Crossbred ewes sold from $27 to $59, selling to $20/head stronger and heavy crossbred wethers sold from $36 to $68/head. The lightweight mutton made from $16 to $36, a few dollars dearer.
