Lamb numbers jumped to 21,800, quality improved over the trade and heavy lambs then dropped away through the light categories ranging from plain to excellent. Still not the full field of buyers and not all were operating fully in a stronger market across most weights and grades. Light store lambs opened cheaper than gained to be firm to $5 dearer in places, light & medium trade to $5 to $10 dearer and heavy trade to $6 to $12/head stronger. Heavy export sold to a top of $212 and gained to $14/head. Across the yarding, the better-quality well finished lambs averaged from 580c to 650c/kg cwt.

Lambs back to the paddock selling from $34 to $128/head. Lambs to the trade to suit MK orders under 18kg sold from $40 to $103, Lambs 18-22kg, sold from $124 to $140, Lambs 22-24kg, sold from $138 to $158, Lambs 24-26kg made from $147 to $168/head. Export 26 to 30kg sold from $159 to $188 and 30kg and over made $182 to $212/head.

Sheep numbers remained similar, the market opened softer and gained as the sale progressed to be $4 to $8/head stronger to a week ago. Heavy Merino wethers made from $102 to $125, Merino ewes $43 to $112 and heavy cross bread mutton from $72 to $148, with a restcoker paying to $156/head for a pen of extra heavy ewes.
