Get John Howard - I am throwing this one out there as a bit of a left-field thing, probably a major left-field thing. We wrote about Advocy in Ag last week and got quite a few responses. Many said we lacked leadership in Ag, leaders with profile, leaders with real clout. 

So as an industry, why don't we get someone with a huge profile to represent us, someone that doesn't have to be tied to a Farming Federation, someone who knows how to deal with policy and goes into bat for us with things like the WA Heritage Act?

How good would it be if we could roll someone like John Howard out to defend us Farmers against all the things we are coming up against? I hear you saying, what's Howard know about Ag? Not much, but we could put a team of the smartest Ag people together to school him up on the facts and leave him to sort the political stuff. And it's not a party thing. If Bob Hawke were alive, I would suggest him also.

Howard is an example of the type of leader we need to help steer this Ag ship through all the hurdles that are coming our way. Someone who can defend our right to Farm and someone who has a track record of getting outcomes. It feels like everyone from outside Farming is trying to make it harder for us to Farm. This will wear away at us over time. Operation get John Howard... Who's with me??
