Dissecting the buffet breakfast - Paula and I have been away for a few weeks. As I mentioned in a post last week, the second week, we allowed ourselves permission to relax, which was good.

Each morning at the resort we stayed at, people would flock to the buffet breakfast. I find how people operate around the buffet breakfast fascinating. We are not breakfast people, but we did manage to get to a couple around 10 am for a piece of the action.

The buffet breakfast is hugely popular with people all around the world. When we went, I studied how people operated. The first thing I observed was there was no lack of food, and the variety and to cater for many nationalities was impressive. I am positive once 10:30 came around and it was time to pack up, they would have had to throw a shit load of food out.

I also noticed that people would always pick too much food and leave something like half behind. I am sure that many of the people that left food behind would be closet anti-food wasters when they got in with their like-minded friends. Hypocritical, yes. Another thing I noticed was that people were more interested in looking at their phones and not looking at what they were eating or engaging in conversation with the other person/people at the table. One couple we sat next to were silent during their half-hour feed. What was on the phone must have been good.
