Yarding: 16,239

Lamb numbers increased slightly with 12,213 yarded. Extra heavy export lambs presented in excellent condition for this time of the year, however quality was very patchy throughout the yarding, ranging from plain to very good. Not all the usual buying group attended and were selective when bidding. Bidding only intensified for the short skin lambs presented in excellent condition, the market opened much softer with sale from $10 to $25 cheaper across all categories.

There weren’t many store buyers present and were quite in the market, Lambs back to the paddock selling from $12 to $75/head. Lambs to the trade to suit MK orders under 18kg sold from $31 to $76, to average 240c to 345c/kg cwt. Lambs 18-22kg, sold from $60 to $104, Lambs 23-26kg, made from $89 to $118, to average 430c to 450c/kg cwt. Export 27 to 30kg sold from $115 to $132 and 30kg and over made $129 to $157/head, averaging 400c to 430c/kg cwt.

Sheep numbers jumped to 4,000, quality was very mixed in a stronger market to a week ago, mostly selling firm to $10/head dearer in places. Light mutton made from $15 to $39/head. Merino wethers made from $47 to $70 holding mostly firm. Merino ewes $42 to $50, and heavy crossbred mutton from $42 to $80 gaining to $10/head. Rams sold from $15 to $72/head
