Yarding: 27,492
Lamb numbers almost doubled with 23,538 yarded. Quality was very good over the heavy categories with more weight offered this week, while the lighter weights had a wide range from plain to very good and starting to show signs of dryness in the skins. Most of the usual buying group attended and operated in a market with mixed results. Heavy export and heavy trade lambs gained the most interest selling to $10/head dearer. Most of Medium trades sold $2 to $6 cheaper, while there were sales to $5 dearer for the really neat lambs with good fat cover. Light wights sold to $15 softer, there were sales to $20 cheaper in places.
More activity from store buyers, but selective when bidding, new season lambs back to the paddock made $5 to $79 for the lighter weights and $80 to $126 for lambs over 18kg cwt to be $20 cheaper in places. Lambs to the trade 18 to 22kg sold from $83 to $123, 22 to 26kg made from $110 to $153/head, with a wide range of 440c to 530c/kg cwt. Export lambs over 26 to sold from $154 to $178/head. Heavy lambs averaged between 540c to 570c/kg cwt.
Limited offering of old lambs sold to $5 to $20/head dearer for the heavy well presented types, and secondary types sold 10 to $20/head cheaper. Heavy old lambs over 24kg cwt sold from $126 to $179/head.
Sheep numbers reminded similar with 3,950 yarded, quality ranged from plain to good. Most of the buying gallery attended but not all were fully active in a very erratic market at times. Merino wethers selling between $24 to $44, in places to $10/head dearer. Merino ewes made from $15 to $42 gaining $5 to $8/head. Heavy Crossbred mutton sold from $24 to $44 slipping $4 to $8 and the light mutton made from $15 to $31, gaining $5/head.
