Yarding: 17,800
Agents penned 11,000 lambs with the over half the yarding new season sucker lambs. The quality improved across all weights and grades. There were more buyers present and extra restocker activity on the rail. The market opened strong and maintained the momentum throughout the yarding.
New season lambs back to the paddock gain more interest this week with buyers paying $37 to $88 for the lighter weights and $86 to $118 for the lambs with more weight and shape. Lambs to the trade 18 to 22kg sold from $89 to $119 and 22 to 26kg made from $109 to $143 to be $8 to $15 stronger and some sales to $20/head dearer. Averaging between 450c to 520c/kg cwt.
Old season Lambs to the trade under 18kg made from $30 to $70/head gaining $5, lambs from 18 to 24kg sold from $76 to $109/head, to $10 dearer and 24 to 26kg made from $111 to $126 gaining $15/head. Heavy export lambs over 26kg selling from $134 to $170 to be in places $25/head dearer. Trade weights averaged from 435c to 460c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers increased to 6,700, quality also improved across the yarding with more buyers active in the stronger market and remained strong throughout the sale. Merino wethers made from $25 to $60 gaining up to $20/head. Merino ewes sold between $16 to $53 to be $15/head dearer and heavy crossbred mutton sold from $33 to $70, to be $10 to $20 stronger and more in places.
