Sheep up to $30 off and Lambs up to $20 off at Ballarat

Lambs - 9169 (+5269).

Lamb supply was up this week to 9,169 yarded, the quality very mixed. Not all the usual buying group attended, buyers were very selective, and bidding was erratic. The trend was much softer to last weeks levels to see up to $20/head drop in prices across the yarding.

Light lambs sold from $73 to $126 and feeders weren’t active today, paying to $135/head. Trade lambs, 18 to 22kg, sold from $126 to $150/head. Lambs, 22 to 24kg, sold from $138 to $167/head, with a large range of 575c to 729c to average around 670c/kg cwt. Lambs, 24to 26kg, sold from $152 to $167/head. Export score 4 lambs, 26 to 30kg, sold from $169 to $182 and extra heavy export lambs over 30kg sold to $180/head. Merino lambs over 16kg, sold from $110 to $140 and restockers paid from $92 to $154/head.

Sheep yarding of 2,706. Quality was plain to very good, with quality runs of Merino wethers, but the market was much softer with buyers not chasing numbers, Merino wethers were back $5 to $10, selling from $109 to $170/head. Both Merino and Crossbred ewe prices were up to $30/head back on last weeks levels. Merino ewes over 18kg sold from $80 to $146/head. Crossbred ewes sold from $70 to $155/head. Rams sold to $92 for Merinos and $36/head for Crossbreds
