Prices up for both Sheep and Lambs at Ballarat

Yarding - 31,948 (+3787).
Lambs - 20,500 (+2201).
Sheep - 11,448 (+1586)

Lamb supply increased again this week to 20,500 yarded. The quality was plain to very good, all the usual buying group attended and operated fully in a stronger market across all categories with increased prices of $10 to $15/head. Lambs sold to a top of $251/head.
 
Feeders and restockers were again active on the light weight lambs back to the paddock, under 20kg selling from $121 to $140, whilst the 20kg and over lots sold from $160 to $187/head. Lambs suiting MK orders under 18kg sold from $98 to $156/head. Lambs to the trade weighing 18 to 22kg sold from $148 to $182, 22 to 24kg made from $174 to $205 and 24 to 26kg, sold from $195 to $213/head with a range of 730c to 863c, to average 795c/kg cwt. Export 26 to 30kg, sold from $208 to $240 an export 30kg plus made from $232 to $251 to average 770c/kg cwt. Merino lambs under 20kg sold from $114 to $148 and 20kg and over made from $162 to $215/head. Hoggets sold to $215 for crossbreds and Merino’s selling to $188/head.
 
Sheep supply also increased to 11,500 yarded, the quality was plain to good, with strong competition causing an increase in prices of $4 to $10/head on last week’s levels. Lighter weight Merino wethers sold from $97 to $165/head. Heavy Merino wethers sold from $163 to$237/head with a range of 650c to 690c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $179 to $220/head, to range from 660c to 700c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $155 to $266/head, to average 630c/kg cwt.
