Pineapple glut bites

Queensland is in the midst of a Pineapple glut. So when next you go to the market or shop, please add a Pineapple to your bag.

The cause has been the heatwave over Summer and the mild Winter. This lead to an early flowering phenomenon and the mild Winter caused the fruit to ripen too soon and all at once

But as we all know over production leads to price pressures and while that is good for consumers, it's not so good for our Farmers.

One very large Farmers said they had twice as much fruit as they expected
