Lambs off up to $20 a head whilst Sheep come off $5 a head at Ballarat

Yarding - 56,364 (+9141).
Lambs - 41,544 (+9133).
Sheep - 14,820 (+8).
Lamb numbers increased again this week to 41,544 yarded. The quality was very good with plenty of weight on offer across the yarding. All the usual buying group attended and operated in an easier market to be around $5 to $20/head back on last week's levels. Excellent quality extra heavy over 30kg lambs sold over $200 to reach $270/head. Shorn lambs sold to $160/head.

Light weight 2 score lambs 12-18kg sold from $90 to $131/head to average 695c/kg cwt. Light trade 2 and 3 score lambs, 18-22kg sold from$126 to $158/head to average 680c/kg cwt. Lambs 22-24kg sold from $154 to $171/head, making from 652c to 715c to average 675c/kg cwt.Heavy 3 to 4 score lambs, 24-26kg sold from $168 to $185/head to average 675c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26-30kg sold from $197 to $225/head. Extra heavy export lambs over 30kg sold from $210 to $270/head. Heavy hoggets sold from $72 to $188 for crossbred's and Merino's sold to $142/head.
14,820 sheep yarded the quality was plain to excellent, with all weights on offer. All the usual buying group attended and operated in a firm to slightly easier market to be around $2 to $5/head back on last week's levels in places. Light weight 1 and 2 score sheep made from $95 to $129 to average 620c with medium weight 2 and 3 score sheep selling from $106 to $160/head, making from 513c to 695c with Merino mutton averaging around 630c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $152 to $213/head. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $140 to $194/head. Heavy Merino wethers sold from $151 to $210 and medium weights sold from $123 to $155/head to average around 620c/kg cwt. Rams sold from $35 to $110/head
