Lamb supply increased to 30,891 yarded, the quality was plain to very good, shorn lambs coming off feed were in demand to again top $270/head. All the usual buying group were in attendance, most operating with strong competition for the well presented shorn trade weight lambs to reach over 900c/kg in places, but overall, the market sold to a softer trend up to $20/head cheaper some weight grades. Competition for light store lambs back to the paddock was again extremely strong this week holding firm. Trade weight lambs were $10 to$20 softer and heavy and extra heavy lambs were firm to $10/head cheaper. Sheep supply increased to 13,586 yarded, the quality was mostly very good, plenty of weight on offer across the yarding. Not all processors were operating to see a very strong market to be firm to$20/head in the heavy pens. Merino mutton sold to a top of $222 and crossbred’s $250/head. Restockers were active in the mutton sale paying up to $206 for crossbred ewes and $210/head for Merino ewes.
Orders for specialty feeders and restockers were strong on the light weight lambs back to the paddock, under 20kg sold from $61 to $189,20kg and over made from $183 to $189/head. Lambs suiting MK orders under 18kg sold from $109 to $165/head. Lambs to the trade 18 to22kg sold from $160 to $188, 22 to 24kg made from $190 to $208/head to average from 840c to 860c/kg cwt. Lambs 24 to 26kg were in high demand as some processors buying heavier weights to fill orders, selling from $212 to $225/head, to average 850c/kg cwt. Export 4 score 26to 30kg lambs sold from $227 to $257 to average 850c and over 30kg sold from $248 to $271/head to average 790c/kg cwt. Hoggets sold to$233 for crossbreds and Merino’s sold to $180/head.
Heavy Merino wethers over 24kg sold from $159 to $222, with lighter weights made from $128 to $156/head, with a range of 620c to 650cwith some pens reaching over 700c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $170 to $210/head, to average 620c to 640c/kg cwt. Heavy-crossbred ewes made from $149 to $250/head, to average from 600c to 620c/kg cwt.
