Yarding: 12,407
Lamb numbers remained similar with 6078, including around 1500 new season young lambs penned. The new season lambs presented mostly very good, while the older last season lambs were very patchy throughout the yarding. Not all the usual buying group were on the rail or operating fully in another small yarding. The market bounced from cheaper to dearer all through the lamb sale that ended with mixed results. Young lambs gained $5 to $12 in places. Older light weight lambs sold $10/head either side of firm. Medium trade gained $3 to $5, heavy trade sold to $12 stronger for the better quality well finished lambs. Heavy export over 26kg sold to a top of $244 to be $8 to $15/head dearer.
Store buyers were again quite this week paying $55 to $124 for lambs back to the paddock and $129 to $179/head for lambs to feed on. New season Light trade lambs under 18kg sold from $96 to $133/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $150 to $180, and lambs over 22kg sold $184 to $228/head, with a wide range from 600 to 785c/kg. Older lambs under 18kg sold to the trade from $32 to $118, 18 to 22kg lambs made $134 to $160 and 22 to 26kg sold from $149 to $207/head to average 542c to 740c/kg cwt.

Heavy export lambs over 26kg made from $189 to $244/head to average 700c to 750c/kg cwt. Merino lambs made from $30 to $108/head. Hoggets sold from $90 to $161 for the crossbreds and $49 to $105/head for the Merino’s.
Mutton numbers Slipped to 6,329 penned, the quality did improve over the yarding. Merino wethers selling from $38 to $115/head. Light weight Merino Ewes made from $23 to $69 and the heavier weights made from $75 to $110/head, to average 260c to 310c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred mutton made from $65 to $116/head, to average 250c to 300c/kg cwt.
