Why we're going to the NFF conference

Why we're going to the NFF conference - I wrote in another publication, The Farmers Club, about how we think the quality of Agricultural Ministers, both state and federal, is diminishing. We are concerned at how the ministers lack any real Agriculture or Farming knowledge.

So next week, Paula and I are heading to Canberra for an education. I like to go to 2 or 3 conferences a year just to see what is happening. It keeps you sharp, and it's good to get out of the office (same as off the Farm) and visit somewhere different.

We think with the lack of Ag knowledge from ministers, we just feel we are going to need stronger leadership from within Ag, from people who know Ag. So, I will check out what the NFF are about and what they stand for and decide whether we are in good hands or not. I have been a little bit dismissive of these groups in the past, and probably need to be more informed than I have been. That's ever since I rescinded our VFF membership about 30 years ago, back when I was on the Farm.

If anyone else is going, please yell out, as I would like to catch up. I am not the greatest networker going around, but I do enjoy the conversations once the initial ice is broken. Anyway, we are looking forward to it, and I dare say there will be a report or two coming your way. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au.
