Who's going to produce the Landline alternative? - We spoke about Landline a while back and how they have lost the plot. See here the article, which had over 8,000 views. We also did a follow-up article after there was plenty of response. Please read it here.
As I mentioned, it used to be a staple on Sunday. But not anymore, and I see some Landline bashing on social media after a story on the weekend. Bashing is probably a sad word for a show that Farmers respected so much. Now, mainstream Farming stories are so far in the rear vision mirror that they are out of sight. Clearly, they are catering for a new market now.
But why hasn't anyone come up with an alternative? Surely, the success of the "old" Landline would be enough for someone to emulate or come up with a TV show that featured mainstream Farming.
A group out of Albury (NSW) tried. They were called "Digital Farm TV", and the version was much shorter, but it only lasted a year or two and disappeared. I mean, the cost to make Landline wouldn't have been cheap, but surely someone can see its commercial benefit. Perhaps it's something for "The Farmers Club". Join up and watch this space.
