Check out last week's Hay Report here. As we speak the bales are pumping out in many areas after some fine weather.

Harvest is in full swing for many, and we are hearing that yields are better than first thought. Some are even getting "best ever" yields.

When people are flat out Hay Baling or Harvesting, there is little attention paid to buying and selling stuff. Unless, of course, someone needs that emergency Harvest or Hay-making item.

But everyone is focused on the job at hand, and rightly so. Hence for that reason, we have been quieter than normal.

There is a trend emerging that once Harvest has wound up (as it has in some areas of NSW and Qld), Farmers are starting to put Harvest items up for sale. Similar thing with Hay Gear. It will be interesting to see if things like Chaser Bins, Grain Bag Inloaders, Tipper Trailers, Headers, etc will be in as much demand post Harvest as they were pre Harvest. I'm thinking not, but Farmers might take the opportunity to upgrade some of their Harvest Gear if something fits the bill.

They are saying that Weaner Cattle could drop $400-$600 a head on last year as the sales get ready to fire into gear. There is frustration in the Sheep industry. A couple of agents I spoke to can't understand why Farmer's aren't buying with so much grass around.

The overall trends for the week just gone include Chaser Bins, Augers, Field Bins, Rams, Tyres, Pick Up Fronts, Sheep Handlers and Farm Tray Trucks.

It was a light week for Grain sales, but we are starting to get some off-spec Grain get listed.

This is what the sales guys said happened this week:

Shane said - A very quiet week on the site with Farmers flat out getting off what they can as quickly as they can, just in case they run into more weather again. The trends were mostly Header Fronts, and Grain Storage, with a good John Deere Tractor and a Skid Steer among my sales for the week.

Paul said - This past week, we have seen Harvest in full swing with Harvest gear still being snapped up. We are also starting to see and hear Hay being pressed and tested. The odd piece of Sowing Equipment is starting to be considered, as we might be staring down a rather short break from Harvest to Cropping.

Mike said - As per last week, It's all about Harvest and Hay. With Grain Storage, Cartage, Chaser Bins and a lesser degree, Headers all selling last week. Livestock Handling Equipment is always popular, and if it's priced right it will sell.

Grain Yields in some places are coming back way better than expected, and the quality of Grain/Oil Seeds is surprising some.

Keep those listings coming and see what else sold here.

End of message.
