It's been a tough start to the new Hay season. Supplies this season look low, and there will be consequences with pricing going forward. Check out the latest Hay Report here.
If it wasn't for a public Holiday or two, last would have been a cracker for sales. As it turned out, it was a pretty good week considering.
It was a strong week for Header sales, with many looking to obtain an extra Header in what is anticipated to be a stop-start Harvest period. Interestingly Harvest started in the Northern WA Wheatbelt yesterday, so we are underway.
Don't forget we have a dedicated Header and Front Auction next Wednesday, the 5th of October. If you have a Header or a Front, then this is the spot to be to maximise the value. Give Jim a ring on 0481 102 288 if you have something to enter.
The Ram sales continue to go from strength to strength, with Kerin Poll grossing over $2.1 million for 519 Rams sold. If any studs have surplus Bulls or Rams to sell, make sure you get them listed.
Livestock Handling gear, mainly Sheep Handlers, are red hot items right now, with many only lasting a day or two on the site.
Ian Hamilton, the inventor of the Load Looper had a cracking week at the Henty Feild Days selling many units. He was ably assisted by Michael Ping and they are both heading to the Elmore Field Days next week. Call and get a demo.
The trends for the week just gone include Slashers, Field Bins, Sheep Handlers, Augers, Tractors, Headers, Grain Bag Inloaders, Draper Fronts, Pick-up Fronts, Tyres, Small Square Balers and Fuel Tanks.
As far as Grain sales were concerned, we sold some Faba Beans for $335 a tonne, Feed Barley for $305 a tonne, some Mustand Wheat for $505 a tonne, some Lupins for $500 a tonne and Forage Sorghum for $3.75/kg.
All prices are Ex Farm.
PS - There will be no What's Hot in Farming report for the fortnight starting the 3rd of October as we are taking some time off.

This is what the sales guys said happened this week:
Shane said - Harvest Gear is moving at a rapid rate with Headers, Fronts, Tractors, and Augers being the flavour of the month. Also seeing a few Sheep Handlers move as we get into the peak season.
Paul said - This last week has seen a mixed bag of Machinery shift. With Mower Conditioners and Balers moving well, along with any Harvest Gear, ie Fronts, Swingaway Augers, Tipping trailers and Trucks. Tractors and Headers are also moving on a consistent basis.
Mike said - Harvest is the main word, anything to do with Harvest, whether it be Grain Storage, Trucks, Trailers or Headers, they are extremely popular. Northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland are gearing up for a big Harvest, as are most, as long as the moisture stays away.

Keep those listings coming and see what else sold here.
