What's Hot in Farming

By Dwain Duxson

It finished up a strong selling week after a slowish start.

We have been down a couple of soldiers (staff), which has affected things.

We had a good drive around parts of Victoria and Southern NSW over the weekend and everywhere we went, it looked awesome. For those not too wet, if they can get through without any frost damage, then we think there will be Truckloads (literally) of Grain around. The problem might be the backlog of last year's Grain in Storages which might not be cleared before the new season Crop arrives.

We think once the frost window closes, Farmers with decent Crops might look at buying an extra Header or adding to their paddock storage. The Croppers won't want to be caught out this year with the threat of wet Harvest lingering. Time means money at the business end.

Trends for the last 7 days included Sheep Handlers, Urea, Tractors, Bulls, Augers, Prime Movers, Gypsum Products, Small Graders, Headers, Pick Up Fronts and Draper Fronts.

Check out our latest fortnightly Hay Report here.

On the Grains front, we sold Feed Oats for $220 a tonne, Feed Barley for $350 and $380 a tonne, Feed Corn for $360 a tonne.

This is what the sales guys said happened this week:

Shane said - Shane is currently on leave.

Paul said - This last week has seen more Harvest-related Machinery shift. Hay Making Gear is on the move also. We are seeing a lift in Wanted adds converting into sales which is encouraging. Trucks are also moving well, as is Animal Handling Equipment. With Hay already starting to hit the ground, let's hope the rain can stay away long enough for those Growers to get something in the bale.

Mike said - Harvest time is coming up. Augers, Chaser Bins and Headers are popular. Just talking to a grower around Goondiwindi who manages 30,000 acres for a superannuation fund, they are talking about a big Harvest and are currently looking for anything to do with Grain Storage, Bunker Walls, etc.

The usual items, Animal Livestock Handling Gear and Working Dogs are still popular.

Hay Gear is starting to filter through into sales as we're hearing a few have got started in Victoria. We are shifting a bit of Hay Gear into Western Queensland so they can do their own Hay. They certainly have an abundance of Grass around them.

Keep those listings coming and see what else sold here.

End of message.
