What's Hot in Farming

By Dwain Duxson

It's a good time to sell things, and remember, you can go into the draw to win a new Toyota Hilux. Here's how.

Machinery and Equipment sales have been super strong over the last fortnight. Lots of big-ticket items are moving. If you need to get a listing back to the top of the page, ring, email or text one of the sales guys, and they will happily do it for you.

There's still a bit of Hay moving right now. Check out last week's Hay Report here, we will have an updated report next week.

I'm told that the first day of the Mallee Machinery Field Days at Speed (Vic) was very well attended. People were excited to get back out, socialise a little, and kick some tyre of things they can touch but not buy until 2024. The takeaway from Speed was that most Machinery manufacturers and importers have orders out until 2024 now.

Speaking of Field Days, there are plenty of big ones coming up, AgQuip (NSW), Henty (NSW) and Elmore (Vic). I'm tipping they will get some pretty good patronage.

The Bull selling season is well underway, and the Ram selling season has just started in SA. It's good to see that the industry has shrugged off any potential disease threats to come out and bat on as per normal. We all know the dangers and the odds but Farmers have to keep Farming.

The Bendigo Sheep and Lamb market was red hot on Monday. I'm told that processors are finding it hard to source Sheep and Cattle out of NSW because of the big wet.

The overall trends were Urea (again), Tractors, Sheep Handling Equipment, Hay Rolls, Boomsprays, Silos, Trailing Windrowers, Oaten Hay, Mainero Grain Inloaders, Canola Pick Up Fronts, Fuel Trailers, and Clover Hay.

Grain sales were pretty quiet this week.

All prices are ex Farm.

This is what the sales guys said happened this week:

Shane said - Plenty of Machinery moving at present with Tractors, Chaser Bins, Boom Sprays and Balers popular at the moment. Talking to Farmers who were at the Speed Field Days last week, they were saying that 2024 was a common word used by exhibitors, which is the date that a lot of machinery won't be built by or until it arrives.

Paul said - Machinery is still by far outselling everything else. With a good mix of Cropping and Harvest gear being the most popular items. Hay Sales have wound back a touch with the availability of good quality Hay, perhaps being responsible for the waning sales. We are also seeing a lift in Hay gear enquiries with what will hopefully be a good Hay Making Season ahead of us as we certainly are due for a good run in this area after a few wet and frustrating years on the Hay front.

Mike said - Again, as per last week, Livestock Handling Equipment is still very popular with Feeders and Sheep Handlers selling very well.

Hay is being looked at for people to top up sheds.

Low-hour Tractors and Truck Trailers have sold very well this week, along with trailing Windrowers. And as fuel continues to yo yo, this has meant that Farm Diesel Storage Tanks and Fuel Trailers are sought after.

Keep those listings coming and see what else sold here.

End of message.
