There's some excitement back in the Hay Market. Check out the new Hay Report here, hot off the keyboard last night.

It was a strong week last week despite being one soldier down. Because all our sales are touched by at least one of our sales people, you can quickly have a downturn in sales volumes if you take one or two of the staff away for the week.

This is how much we rely on our people to be the conduit between seller and buyer and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, whether it be a $400 or a $400,000 deal. Having that level of trust in the middle helps, and our NPS payment system has been a big winner since its implementation 2 years ago. Make sure you request that when buying or selling next time.

Now that most have finished up seeding in spots (we know that some haven't started yet due to the wet, and any that did might have to resow), we will begin to see some Seeding Equipment come on the market as Farmers look to upgrade.

The trends for the last 7 days include Hay or all types, Urea, Single Super, Tipper Trailers, Speed Tillers, Sprayers, Spreaders, Tractor Tyres, Working Dogs, Windrowers and Feed Mixers.

Interesting to read Mike's story below, and it gives you a bit of an indication as to where the parts market is and what lengths people will go to to keep the Machines running.

It was a bit quiet on the Livestock front this week.

Grain sales were quiet also, with Feed Oats making $240 and $250 a tonne. Feed Oats has been the laggard in Grain sales, so it's good to see they have risen by $50 in the last couple of weeks. Faba Bean made $450 and $475 a tonne.

All prices are ex Farm.

This is what the sales guys said happened this week:

Shane said - Another good run on Machinery this week with Windrowers, Spreaders and Speed Tillers being the main items sold. With the EOFY coming up, we see some buying to get their slice into the instant write off, but others are waiting to spend due to Tax issues. It's a really good time to list if you want to sell into a hot market.

Paul said - We have seen Machinery continue to be the flavour of the month. With Headers and Fronts starting to be secured as each rain brings us closer to Harvest.

We are also seeing people looking further ahead to the next Cropping season with a few Airseeders and Carts being looked at. This might be a smart move as some Manufacturer's lead times are still quite lengthy and probably won't be shortened up if things continue the way they are going.

Mike said - There has been a fair spread of inquiry on the Machinery front with nothing, in particular, standing out. Feed Mixers, Tractors, and Livestock handling have been popular.

Just a little story....

I just had a mate needing a part for a Cotton Picker who couldn't source a part in Australia. John Deere said they could get one out of America, but it would be several weeks. So this guy hopped on a plane to Los Angeles (LAX), drove 3 and a half hours each way, picked up the part and is on his way back to Australia, all in under 48 hours

Keep those listings coming and see what else sold here.

End of message.
