We should retire from doing that

We should retire from doing that - Trying to work out what or how other people are thinking will eventually drive us mad. It's wasted energy that so many of us get caught up in.

As Farmers, we are on show. People drive past our Farms and form opinions on how we Farm or what sort of Farmer we are. Many will just think it, but some will verbalise it in the form of gossip. Worrying about what other people think may inhibit what you do and how willing you are to try things knowing that if you fail or get it wrong, people will judge you.

As Farmers, we want to be the best Farmers possible, and by striving for that, sometimes we have to do things differently or what other people might think is left field.

Owning our mistakes is classed as best practice. And when you own them, and they happen, you're fine with it, even if others aren't. I know people that don't give two hoots as to what other people think. It's not that they don't care, they do, but they are free of any of that noise in their heads. This allows them to get on with the show. I know it's easier said than done, but you need to set yourself free and retire from preempting people's thoughts.
