Turning a side Hustle into the main game - Toby Liston and his family were once Grain Farmers in the Mallee region of Victoria. They had a side Hustle breeding Horses. Fast forward to today, and that side hustle is now the main game. They still own a block in the Mallee but sold out the majority of their holding many years ago to take a risk and run with the Horse business.

It's a tough business, but these guys have made it work. They now have a magnificent property called Three Bridges on the Loddon River between Eddington and Baringhup in Central Victoria. We were lucky enough to have a guided tour by Toby a couple of Sundays ago.

They have refined the place and do a bit of breeding themselves but have also developed some strong relationships with some wealthy owners who trust them with their significant four-legged investments. The Wednesday after we went there, Gai Waterhouse was helicoptering in to inspect the yearlings and weanlings before the upcoming sales next year. 

These guys were a natural fit into the Horse game because the same principles apply to that of Grain Farming, you have to build strong relationships, and people have to have trust in what you do. Like Grain Farming, there is usually big money at stake. Well done to the Listons. It has been a successful transition. Have you got a side hustle?
