Lamb supply increased to 17,000, quality was mixed ranging from plain to very good. Not a full field of buyers present, competition started much softer gaining some momentum but buyers were selective through out the market. Lambs with good finish are still sort after and had sales reaching to 880c/kg but secondary lambs needing finish and in wool sold in places $12 to $20/cheaper. Light trade slipped $10/head. Medium trade sold from $5 to $10 softer and heavy trade were $2 to $5/head cheaper. Heavy Export lambs sold to a top of $278/head, not the weight and quality to previous weeks but holding to a few dollars either side of firm.
Store buyers were quite again this week with lambs back to the paddock and to feed on made from $50 to $187/head. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $78 to $148 back $10/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $150 to $190, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $184 to $209, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $201 to $224/head to average 780c to 820c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $216 to $249 back $4/head to average 790c to 810c/kg and over 30kg sold from $246 to $278/head gaining $2/head with an average range of 780c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers decreased to 3,562 the quality was mixed ranging from plain to good. The market was much softer to a week ago with a smaller field of buyers on the rail. Heavy Merino wethers made from $176 to $186/head to average 600c to 640c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $125 to $195, and heavy crossbred mutton made $155 to $200/head to average 580c to 620c/kg cwt.
