Thinking about thinking: I don't know about you, but when I was in my 20's, 30's and even 40s it was rush, rush, rush. Just get into it, no time to waste, get the job done, do it the hard way, she'll be right. You know....

There's a good podcast I like listening to called Founders that goes into depth about some of our most famous business creators. One common theme is that many of them allocate thinking time. Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger are big on it.

There are so many things to do on a Farm, and so many problems arise that need to be addressed. Just a little bit of thinking before acting time can lead to a better outcome. If you have a problem that you need to unpick, try leaning against a Fence or the Ute and just give a couple of minutes thought as to what you're about to do. Don't put yourself on auto and do it the way you always did it.

When you get some downtime in between Harvest and Cropping, or Shearing and Joining, you might want to spend hours or even a day or two thinking about the year ahead. If you're in a team of people, allocate some thinking time and get everyone to bring it to the table for discussion. You'll be amazed at what comes out.
