Numbers lifted moderately. The market was erratic across trade categories, with a key supermarket not operating and another only on the neater short skinned pens. Longer wool lambs were discounted heavily at times, with some major buyers avoiding these types. This caused big price spreads over some categories. There was a good line up of heavy export lambs and despite less buying activity prices lifted to record a top price of $328.20

Trade competition was weaker and prices fluctuated around quality. Trade lambs 21kg to 24kg sold $10 cheaper to average 795c/kg. Lambs 25kg to 26kg sold $6 cheaper with few buyers interested in this category the bulk averaged 804c/kg cwt. Store lambs sold to weak demand with prices ranging from $60 to $128/head. In the heavy export market weight was the driving force behind the bursts of bidding. The bulk of the heavy export lambs were $7 to $10 dearer. Lambs 26kg to 30kg sold at $218 to $253/head. Over the 30kg averaged 810c/kg cwt.

The sheep market gathered pace, with a northern processors very strong on heavy categories. Stronger competition and good supplies of heavy mutton gave buyers plenty of choices. Heavy ewes and Merino Wethers sold from $108 to $140/head. Trade sheep were in reasonable supply making from $55 to $96/head.
