The most important service of all - We all get the Ute serviced and spend big dollars getting the Tractor or Header serviced. We do this to prevent things from going wrong in the future.

But when it comes to ourselves and our health, we (the men and women of Agriculture) don't do those regular check-ups that can prevent things from happening.

Our old Livestock Agent, Don Murphy is a great example of getting regular check-ups. He used to see a specialist religiously every year. Now Don, who lived the traditional Agents lifestyle, back in the day when most of the business was done in the pub and everyone in the game smoked. And Don wasn't the fittest-looking bloke going around, but he knew how he was tracking every year. This yearly check-up must be working as he is still alive and active in his late 80s.

Since the age of 50, on Don's advice, I have been getting a year-round check-up, but this year I haven't booked it yet (it's usually in March), so this is a wake-up call for me (I booked it today). As Farmers, we think we are pretty invincible. I bet Shane Warne did too. We don't know what's around the corner. Start your research today. As the headline says, it's the most important service of all.
