The counter lunch - Don't underestimate doing lunch. Corporates do it regularly, Politicians do it often, and Tradies do it too, but Farmers hardly do it at all. Lunch can be great for catching up with clients, or potential ones, dining with mates, or taking the staff for a treat. Some don't even need an excuse at all.

I know as Farmers, we are very busy, so it's not even considered, but I think we should, at least occasionally. What a great morale-boosting thing for you and your Farm staff to do. You could even invite your Agro or Accountant. It's good to have meaningful conversations in a relaxed atmosphere. Many Tradies have a traditional Friday afternoon counter meal for the team. It's big business for the pubs, and it gives the Tradies a small break from the job.

I remember we finished Lamb Marking once, and the old man said, come on, let's all go to the pub for a feed, and we all jumped into a couple of Utes and off we went to the local. So it was Lunch, a few games of pool and a few beers. I remember it because we only ever did it once, and everyone loved it.

And it doesn't have to be a pub. It could be a cafe, a restaurant, or even a BBQ. But whatever you do, take it off Farm and do it during business hours, then it feels like a treat. The benefits for you, your staff, and the Farm business will be profound. You can book something or do it on a whim, but make sure you do it. Better still, make sure you do it a few times. It's one of life's pleasures.
