The ability to cope - I‘ve been thinking. Many talk about resilience, and I reckon it’s a key ingredient in our make-up. Some have it in droves, and others don’t.

I am talking about society here, not Farmers. But do you reckon as life becomes more and more convenient, the resilience bar drops? By convenience, I mean we don’t have to work as hard for things, so we lose the ability to solve problems, and we expect things instead of working to obtain them.

Back when we had dirt floors and no running water, we had to work hard just to survive, but also life was simple back then; we might have had 10 tasks to do for the day, and that was it, and we didn’t have any great expectations either.

So why are we seemingly less resilient these days than we were, say, 30 years ago? Even though life is more comfortable, it’s also more complex. So, do we have the artillery now to deal with that complexity? We have so much noise going on, and instead of the ten tasks we had back in the dirt floor days, we have a hundred or more today. Is that why our resilience levels are breaking down? Could it be, that if we simplified our lives, our resilience levels would rise? So many questions. Your feedback would be appreciated.
