Swapping Sheep for people, madness... - I was watching that Car critic guy turned Farmer Jeremy Clarkson on his new hit show called Clarkson's Farm over the weekend. He keeps calling Sheep "Sheeps", and after a while, I found myself doing the same.

Anyway, we sent 132 scanned-in-Lamb 4 & 5-year-old Merino Ewes off to Ballarat Salesyards after failing to sell them in an online campaign through our system. They made $92, which is probably where the market's at. They had to go as we didn't want them Lambing down here.

I said to Paula (better half) that's the last mob of Sheep we do, we need to leave it to the experts, so we are actioning what we write about by giving a young bloke a go. Jake is in his late 20's is a Builder by trade but loves Sheep Farming. He hasn't inherited any Land but is just leasing a few blocks here and there. He's one of those youngsters that will make it. Why? Because he finds a way.

Jake will run the Sheep, and we will look at turning the place into an accommodation Farm in time. It's another trend we have been banging on about in this column. But swapping Sheep (can't talk and generally do what you want them too) for people (can talk, enough said), we must be mad.....
