Lamb supply remained similar at 33,900 units. The quality was mixed ranging from plain to excellent with plenty of weight offered across the entire yarding. All the usual buying group attended in a mostly strong market. Overall the sale ended either side of firm for the trade weights, with the exception of the extra heavy over 30kg lambs which were in high demand. Light trade sold firm with medium and heavy trade selling firm to $4/head easier. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg sold firm to $5 softer. There was extra competition for the extra heavy export lambs over 30kg selling to a top of $322/head to average $25/head dearer and more in places.
Store buyers were more active this week with lambs back to the paddock and to feed on sold from $45 to $175/head to be $3 to $8/head dearer. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $112 to $161 being $5/head stronger. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $158 to $180, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $176 to $188, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $183 to $215/head, with a wide range average of 750c to 790c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $193 to $239 and over 30kg sold from $235 to $322/head with an average of 760c to 770c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers increased with 10,800 yarded with the quality being mixed ranging from plain to very good. Not all buyers were present but most were active in a strong market. Overall the market was to $10/head dearer across most weights and grades. Heavy Merino wethers made from $164 to $210 to average 620c to 645c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $140 to $190/head to average 590c to 630c/kg and heavy crossbred mutton made $141 to $229/head to average 580c to 610c/kg cwt.
