Yarding - 15,200
Lamb supply increased slightly to 10,500 of mixed quality ranging from plain to excellent. A smaller field of buyers were present and not all were active. The market started stronger and gained more momentum as the sale progressed ending $5 to $20/head dearer to a week ago. Lambs in short skins with good finish still in high demand sold to $25/head dearer in places. Light and Medium trade lambs sold to $10 better, heavy trade were $10 to $20/head stronger. Heavy export lambs were in good supply and presented in excellent condition to top at $262 gaining $22/head on last week’s market.
Lambs back to the paddock and to feed on made from $70 to $149/head. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $86 to $118/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $120 to $183, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $175 to $207, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $190 to $230/head to average 750c to 815c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $205 to $238 to average 815c and over 30kg sold from $232 to $262/head with an average of 720c/kg cwt.
Numbers increased with 4,700 sheep yarded the quality was pain to excellent. The market started stronger and mid-way through bidding softened to than gain slightly towards the end. Overall the market was $5 to $15/head better on last week’s yarding. Heavy Merino wethers were presented in excellent condition and made from $140 to $195 to average 560c to 610c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $135 to $182 and heavy crossbred mutton made $134 to $220/head to average 530c to 570c/kg cwt.
