Lamb supply decreased to 27, 835 penned. The quality ranged from plain to excellent. All the usual buying group were present in a much stronger market to a week ago, bidding intensified with word there will be no boats arriving from Tasmanian this week. There were sales of up to $25/head dearer in places. Overall light and medium trade lambs sold to $10 better, heavy trade sold $10 to $15/head dearer. Heavy export lambs were in high demand with another excellent line up presented, selling to a top of $330 to end $15 to $25/head stronger.

Store buyers were active this week but had more competition from processors, lambs back to the paddock and to feed on sold from $72 to $185 selling to $10/head dearer. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $106 to $163, $8/head better. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $154 to $184, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $180 to $210, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $201 to $228/head, with a range of 800c to 830c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $208 to $252 and extra heavy export lambs over 30kg sold from $245 to $330/head, with an average range of 790c to 820c/kg cwt.

Sheep numbers remained similar at 6,717 yarded, the quality was mixed ranging from plain to very good, not all processors operated fully in a competitive mutton market, with sales $10 to $15/head stronger in places to last week’s levels. Heavy Merino wethers made from $178 to $231/head to average 700c to 720c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $172 to $197, to average 660c to 690c, and heavy crossbred mutton made $166 to $241/head, to average 650c to 690c/kg cwt.
