Slightly Broken - I remember when we used to go and exhibit at the many Field Days we attended over the years, we used to stand out the front of our site and get talking to people that way. Some of them were curious and would stop for a chat, whilst others had a better spot to go. We fully understand the dynamics and respect people's right to stop or not.

When people would pull up for a chat, I would always check their hands to confirm whether they were Farmers or not. It was a tried-and-tested rule that was pretty fail-safe, as Farmers have unique hands.

Another thing I noticed with Farmers and still do today is their broken bodies, mainly in the older Farmers who have done at least 20 odd Lambings or Harvests.

Farming requires physical labour, and some tasks can be hard on the body. When that constantly happens, things go wrong, and some can be left with injuries for life. They are a bit like old footballers or former fast bowlers. Most Farmers I know over the age of about 40 live with some pain in their bodies. I guess that's why, as we get older, we pick and choose the things we do and don't want to do. What part of your body is slightly broken? Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
