Lamb prices failed to capitalise on recent rain with extra numbers in the market. Falls of $8 to $12 were recorded across trade and heavy lamb classes, with bidding becoming erratic as the sale progressed. Very few buyers operated to capacity, while some companies did not attend.

Prices trends varied across trade categories. The mixed quality and buyer participation from both domestic and export buyers was patchy throughout the sale. Well-shaped pens of 22-24kg trade lambs sold up to $8 cheaper selling at $158 to $183 to average 726c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs sold to only a few buyers, while other companies did not tender a price. Lambs 26-30kg sold from $186 to $222/head. Lambs over 30kg cwt sold from $210 to $274/head to average 700c/kg cwt.

It was a very mixed offering of mutton. A northern processors dominated the sale with other companies trying to chase the market. Heavy sheep sold to stronger price trends selling from $128 to $170, with some sales selling above 500c/kg carcass weight. Trade sheep made from $81 to $124/head. Light sheep sold at $61 to $94/head.
