Prices "ignited" at Wagga Wagga

Yarding - 42,000 (+8750).
Lambs - 34,000 (+6700).
Sheep - 8000 (+2050)

Numbers were lifted by 8,750 sheep and lambs. The quality improved with lambs better finished and additional weight available. A full field of buyers were present and operating in a firm to dearer market. Prices ignited across the heavy export lamb run with very strong competition from processors. Restockers continue to be active on the light lamb portion.

Trade lambs were well supplied and prices were firm across all weights. Light and medium trade lambs sold from $172 to $205 with heavy trade lambs selling from $195 to $226/head. Heavy lambs were also firm selling from $220 to $237/head. Heavy export lambs were well finished with prices jumping $6 to $15/head. Lambs weighing 26 to 30kg sold from $229 to $265 and the over 30kg lambs sold to the market high of $331/head. MK Bag lambs sold to stronger trends where quality was available selling from $133 to $168/head. Restockers were active paying from $110 to $178/head for light lambs back to the paddock.

Mutton was well supplied selling in a firm to dearer market. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $160 to $220/head. Crossbred ewes reached $233/head. Medium weights sold from $130 to $158/head.
