Yarding - 46,000
Lamb numbers eased and there were 17500 new season lambs offered. There were plenty of light store lambs and a mixed run of trade and heavy weights. Extra heavy lambs were limited and mostly old shorn lambs. Competition was stronger over all categories resulting in a dearer market.
New season store lambs were $5 to $10 dearer selling from $98 to $150 and secondary trade that retuned to the paddock reached $155/head. Prime trades to 24kg cwt were up $10 and sold from $169 to $201 and the 24 to 26kg lambs ranged from $191 to $232/head averaging 800c to 840c/kg cwt. Heavy weights 26kg and heavier $210 to a top for extra heavy lambs of $268/head.
There was a good run of heavy old lambs and prices ranged from $204 to $240 and extra heavy weights $240 to $282/head, Heavy hoggets sold from $148 to $182/head.
Mutton numbers halved and the quality remained fair to good. All the buyers were operating and prices jumped $30 and more in some sales. Medium weights ewes sold from $86 to $126 and the best for Merino ewes reached $147/head. Very heavy Crossbred ewes topped the mutton at $198/head but most heavy weights ranged from $120 to $150/head.
