Yarding - 37,450

Biggest yarding so far this season with 27,000 lambs and nearly 10,000 sheep. Competition was keen from a full field of buyers as flooding continues to impact stock movements in some regions, particularly NSW. All classes of stock sold to dearer trends with heavy export weighted lambs the highlight. Young unshorn lambs with weight above 27kg cwt were up to $20 dearer and sold to $290. Price gains over the general run of trade lamb and store lambs were more modest at $5 to $12 stronger. It meant the heaviest young lambs often recorded the strongest cents per kilogram price costs for processors.

The heaviest young lambs over 30kg cwt, which were in limited numbers, sold from $245 to a top of $290 to average $265. There was also some very strong sales in the heavy 26-30kg lambs at $215 to $265 to average $236. These heavy lambs were trending over 800c with some pens bouncing to much higher rates at times. The majority of the heavy trade lambs sold from $180 to $217, with the best types above 800c. But it should be noted there was still domestic lambs estimated in the 760 to 800c range, particularly for plainer types around 21-22kg cwt at $160 to $178. Genuine sized store lambs $120 to $150 for most, with bigger trade lambs to shear selling to specialist Ballarat finishers at up to $205.

Sheep were $6 to $12 dearer. Big crossbred ewes $144 to $175 and the main run of heavy Merino ewes from $140 to $168. Light mutton sold to strong demand
