The anticipation of the arrival of the boats carrying Urea has been at an all-time high. Two weeks ago, the update was the boat that was due to arrive on the 4th of September was on time, and the one for the 11th of September was ahead of schedule. With a fortnight still to go, I was cautiously optimistic that things could go to plan this time around.
At the start of last week, things were still on track, then as the weekend drew closer, the first boat broke down due to engine troubles. So, at the start of this week, all hope was on the second boat coming into port mid-week. This boat has been waiting to get the go-ahead to dock for unloading since Tuesday. With many attempts, there have been multiple pushbacks. The most recent update was that the boat will be unloaded later this evening with the hope that once product hits the floor, truck scheduling will be opened up for Friday, the 8th of September.
I'm a self-confessed people-pleaser. I love nothing more than being able to ring customers to tell them we've secured their preferred day and time slot. But this has been few and far between over the last month or so. But it has been refreshing to have such a positive response from most customers. They understand that a vessel being unloading is out of my control, out of the Supplier's control, and there are so many factors that can delay a ship coming into port. But it hasn't reduced the number of times I've hung up the phone and said to myself, "Just unload the Boat" (maybe with a few colourful words added in).
We still have a limited amount of Urea available. Please get in touch to discuss.
