Over the last couple of years, we have continually heard about the increases in Farm input prices. We are finally seeing Fertiliser and Chemical getting closer to pre covid prices.
Last year the Shipping cost on a container of Chemical was $12,000.00 compared to this year's cost of $300.00 US. That is a massive difference, and in a recent article about a Taiwan Shipping company, it is easy to see who were the big winners during 2021 and 2022.
Evergreen, a Taiwanese shipping company, have recently given their staff five years of salary as a bonus to 3100 workers. Evergreen is reported to have made $16.25 Billion dollars for the 2022 financial year.
Looking at the current pricing of shipping a container, it looks like these massive pay days for some shipping companies are coming to an end.
The current price of Glyphosate 450 is approx $6.50 per litre, and Glyphosate 540 approx $8.00 per litre, Paraquat is also softening and back to approx. $5.50 per litre. These prices are expected to continue to soften over the next 3 to 4 months when new shipments arrive.
